Gah!

Gah!  I just looked at my Baby Counter widget, and I only have 62 more days until my September 24th due date!!!

Does anyone have any advice for what I should be doing these last couple of months?  I feel so unprepared!

  1. You're getting so close! I had Caleb 4 weeks early, which was a complete surprise to me. Such a surprise that I didnt have my hospital bag packed and we didn't have any diapers! So I'd say to be prepared so you don't end up at the hospital with nothing and have to pick up diapers on the way home with the baby :) With Isabelle, I packed my bags really early, which came in really handy because I had to be admitted to the hospital at 34 weeks for a few days. Since I was prepared, I already had everything in the trunk of our car.

Other than that, I've found that the most important things to have for those first few weeks are just a couple onesies or footed pj's, blankets, diapers and bottles and formula (if you're not planning on nursing). Its such a whirlwind, but its exciting!

    Advice...

    1. Have a few clothes prewashed and foldedready to use. not too many becuase if you baby is extra small or extra big you may need a different size and may need to exchange some things.

    2. Even if you are planning to breast feed, I think it is still a good idea to have a couple of bottles and formula on hand, just in case.

    3. Have enough diapers and wipes.

    4. Put the car seat in and know how to use it before leaving the hospital.

    5. Pack a bag for the hospital. Robe, slippers, camera, pads, clothing to go home in (probably maternity clothings still, you won't fit into pre pregnany clothese yet most likely), things to entertain yourself, phone list, clothes for the baby, personal items, socks (your feet will get cold), I think that about covers the basics, maybe food for Derek.

Those are the major things I can think of. Make sure all the baby stuff is ready to go because you won't get much sleep when you come home. I liked t freeze dinners too so I didn't have to cook for a couple of weeks.

  4. I liked Jodie's advice. :) It will be here before you know it!

You'll be a great mommy. I also like the book "What to expect the first year."

  5. I can't believe it's getting so close! We are excited to see what your 2nd ultrasound shows!

I think all the ideas shared are great! Don't forget to pack your camera and batteries and snacks are nice too.

Other good things to do are to just spend a lot of time with Derek. For the first month after the baby comes it is tricky to go do things like you used to. So go on some fun dates while your waiting! The temple, our house :-), Geocaching :-), etc.

Also - If you want some help making freezer meals let me know!!!

  6. Freezer meals are really good, bag packed is also a really good idea. Also don't forget to pack a cord for your phone so that when it dies you are okay! Make sure you know what you are doing as far as medicines. If you are going natural start preparing now with some breathing and some visualization. Take a prenatal class. I found it very helpful. Invite who you want to be at the birth (your dad may or may not want to be there, I invited my dad but he waited out in the hall!). Now since your mom will probably not be able to be there, I would make sure that after the birth you and baby hang out in your mom's room if possible maybe even take a few naps there so that she can feel part of the action. Also when you get home from the hospital just sit and lay down! Let your husband and dad do whatever you need done, like laundry and getting food. You will heal faster and not have as many emotional issues if you do this (it was really hard for me to let everybody else do stuff, but really worth it!).
