I have taken your challenge!

My new blogger buddy at TJhirst.com (an excellent blogger I might add) put everyone to a challenge, make a list of five to ten books for your lifetime pursuit reading list and begin reading one this month.

Well, I would like to announce that I'm taking her up on that challenge and publicly posting my list of 5-10 books for my lifetime pursuit reading list.  Am I limited to only 5-10?  Just joking of course!  I do LOVE to read, but I think if I made a list longer than 10 would kill the reading drive in me.  At least for a few months.

So, as I am publicly posting my list, you all have license to ask me at any time, how I'm doing on my list.  Actually, please take that license and use it!  That will keep me motivated to get this list read!

Here it is...

  1. War and Peace, by Leo Tolstoy
  2. Crime and Punishment, by Fyodor Dostoevsky
  3. Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte
  4. Middlemarch, by George Elliot
  5. Something Wicked This Way Comes, by Ray Bradbury
  6. The Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinbeck
  7. Lolita, by Vladimir Nabokov
  8. The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, by Benjamin Franklin
  9. Catch 22, by Joseph Heller
  10. ??? Any suggestions?

Which should I start with?  Have you read any of these?

  1. I LOVE Crime and Punishment! It will make you hate it and want to throw it into a fire...it will make you cry without being able to figure out why...and in the end, you will think differently without ever being able to decide when it changed you.

  2. Wow, after reading that comment, I'm going to go out and get Crime and Punishment immediately!

I'm currently doing this challenge as well. I've thought of some of the same ones you have on your list. I can't finalize my list yet because it's so hard to choose! One I just read and am thinking of including on my list is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I also think I'll add the Bible- the WHOLE THING.

  3. I know, right? My friend Jessica always has good reviews of books. Even for the ones she doesn't like! I'm reading Crime and Punishment too!
